    Phoebe is buried in the Baptist Cemetery in Cheshire, Massachusetts, located close to the Adams border.
    The marker reads: “Phoebe, In memory of Phoebe the wife of Isaac Hathaway who died Aug. 18, 1785, aged 51 years, and had been the mother of 16 children 13 of which were living at her death.”

    This is the story of Isaac Hathaway Jr. and his wife Phoebe Bailey. Isaac fought in the Revolutionary War with George Washington's Continental Army. Pheobe, living in Fall River with small children to care for, faced her own challenges as the British invaded her neighborhood and had to be fought off by the Minutemen.
