Jean Baptiste Descomps , who never traveled to New France, married Marie Ann Courrapied in 1693. The baptismal records for several children born to Jean Baptiste and Marie Ann Courrapied have been found in La Rouchelle France - spanning the years before and after Pierre's birth. This would indicate that Jean Baptiste and Marie Ann Courrapied were married for some time. There is a woman named Marie Ann Manceau who was born in New France that could have been Pierre's mother, however that is unlikely as she would have needed to travel to France at a young age to marry Jean Baptiste (who was already married) and then return to New France at some later date. No record of this travel has ever been found. It is believed that the only mention of Marie Ann Manceau (in Pierre's marriage record) was a misspelling on the part of the priest.
